Website designs convey messages too!

The website I chose is www.jambajuice.com.
This smoothy place, Jamba Juice, is very popular in California, but I do not think it is very much so here in Philly.

The website is very colorful and easy to maneuver. The colorful colors act to mimic the colorfulness of the different types of fruit. The eye popping colors are like eye candy, drawing the viewer in to the website.
A big pull that the website has is the fact that they are promoting the healthy side of their food choices. The three main links on the page are all referring to the health of a person. These all are used to help pull in people who are trying to be healthy. They make it so choosing healthy beverages are easy, fast, and good tasting. They used the fact that so many people are trying to be healthier now to their advantage and dedicated part of their website to that.
The lack of ads ensures that the viewer is not getting distracted while on the site. The ads tend to take away from the actual website and therefore the message that the creators of the website are trying to portray.
The simple yet decorative layout allows for easy browsing through their site, lessening confusion and frustration so as to keep the viewer on their site.
They provide links showing that they are on Facebook, twitter, and tumbler. This is to get their name out there so people will come to their locations.

It is surprising at how much you notice about websites when analyzing them!

Portfolio Reflections

Oh portfolios, gotta love them!
The thing I am most proud of this year is the fact that I was able to write new papers than I have never written before. I also never have written a legit essay using "I" and "you" before. This was very new to me because my teachers always told me to never use those words. It was interesting using them and kind of difficult to get use to using them.
I have learned that I need to reread what I write more closely. I have the habit of just completing my paper and saying "DONE!" I also need to improve on sticking to what the topic of the paper is about. I tend to go off topic a bit and stem away from the point of my paper.
I hope to continuously improve my vocabulary and command of language. I also need to improve my grammar because it can get sloppy at times.
This term has helped me improve greatly and I know with putting in the time and work I will improve more next term as well.

Project 2!

My project 2 was a disaster at the point of the rough draft. I was not following the assignment in the slightest! I have much to work on still with my paper.

My main focus is working on the exploratory part of my essay. I was trying to prove one side over the other and my paper was steering very far away from the point of this whole project. I feel this will be easier for me to write now, but I am starting over which will be difficult. I plan on working on it more throughout the week, each day writing a little bit more every day.

I think that I should definitely look over my sources and make sure that they are all scholarly. I need to go through them and reread them to get a better feel for what each says and how I can use the information in my research. I will do that tomorrow to make sure I have enough time the rest of the week to include the info in my paper.

Finally, I need to find a good table or diagram or photo to use in my paper and be able to use it effectively in my paper. I have found two tables so far, but incorporating them in my paper might be difficult for me. Once I finish looking oner my sources again and look at the tables I can go on to include them in the paper. I think tuesday or wednesday is when I will have how to place it in my paper.

Wish me luck!

Project 2

I decided to choose two articles that I used for my annotated bibliographies because I found some pretty good ones for my project.

http://www.handwritingpro.com/
I think this website provides amazing information on what different styles of writing says about a person. I would love to include what certain loops of letters and the way people cross their "t's" mean in my research. It feel that someone could really get interested in what their handwriting says about them, and that is exactly what I want people to think about after reading my research paper. Too bad I cannot use this in my actual paper. :(

This site was very interesting! I really liked when the author made note that everyone's handwriting is different from one another and the fact that identical twins, with identical genetic makeup, do not even have the same handwriting. It's something to think about. I love what she had to say about the way writing in a straight line versus writing in an upward or downward slope. Although short, this article was very entertaining to read. I even made my roommate write out a sentence so I could try to analyze it! Did not work out too well, however. :)
